I used to work for a social services agency, investigating child abuse. I saw a pattern in the cases that I was investigating. Several parents that I was working with suffered from mental health and substance use issues. I didn't want to be another band-aid on the situation, I wanted to really help. The motivation in me enrolling in school was to further educate myself on the root of these problems and be able to help families stay together by utilizing skills and interventions that would really impact change.
With over twenty years of combined experience in social services and counseling, working with a diverse population of abused, delinquent youth, at-risk families, women seeking empowerment, trauma recovery and individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses, my number one desire is to remain compassionately empathetic and sensitive to the needs of each person I encounter. I am a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and have worked extensively with military families and understand the unique challenges military families face. I am trained in Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Exposure Therapy. I am also available to serve clients with substance use, PTSD, trauma, self-mutilating behavior, and other issues.
No matter where someone is in life, my desire is to help them realize their goals and attain them. If that sounds like something that's good for you, I look forward to hearing from you soon.
