ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Oasis of Serenity Counseling & Consulting is collaborating with Shelia Key, of Restoration and New Beginnings to host the Coming Together Workshop for committed couples looking to enhance their relationship skills or develop healthy relationship skills in order to be successful in their marriage or relationship. Part of cultivating your relationship is learning new skills or sharpening the ones you already have towards growing your relationship.

Sharon Grant is the Owner and CEO of Oasis of Serenity Counseling & Consulting Services. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Prepare/Enrich Trainer & Facilitator, Personal Development and Marriage Coach, Sharon's passion for her work with couples is to be the conduit for couples to have a healthy relationship that builds happier families and helps create communities that are stronger and increase productivity for employers. She works with couples (pre-marital and married) to develop and foster emotional stability, empowerment, relationship satisfaction, and marriage longevity. 

Shelia Key is the Owner and CEO of Restoration and New Beginnings.  As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Prepare/Enrich Facilitator, and Trauma Coach, Shelia acknowledges that life can be challenging; there are no magical cures; but with open honest communication, dedication, and commitment it is possible to develop a success plan that will assist in managing day-to-day interactions & minimize triggers and negative outcomes in relationships.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Do you consider yourself to be an effective communicator?  Is your message clear, concise, received in the manner intended, and the desired outcome achieved? Do you find it easy to articulate your needs and concerns, or do you remain silent in order to please your partner? Do you truly hear what the other person is saying?  What does your partner say about your communication skills?  Did you know that communication is one of the major reasons couples seek out counseling services?

Ineffective communication impacts your ability as a couple to problem solve in a collaborative manner in which compromise is achieved.  Would you like to know how to effectively solve problems in an efficient way in which you both feel "your opinion matters, your perspective is considered and you're working as a team rather than 2 individuals"?

Another significant area of a relationship that is impacted by communication is intimacy.  In most relationships, at least one partner considers intimacy to be equivalent to the act of sex (a physical act). Intimacy can lead to sex, but intimacy doesn't need to be physical to exist. So, how do you create intimacy? Is this a topic of discussion in your relationship?
